Freestyle, It’s Come Along Way!

Latif Mercado

When July is here, I’m already working on September. I have a lot of new things happening for the fall of ’09, new products, new concerts, and new markets that I am currently exploring. I would also like to put a little more emphasis on new artist or at least artists who haven’t been getting the shine they deserve.

I’ve attempted this in the past without much cooperation, so I kind of pushed it to the side. I could only work as hard as you, so if you feel that you have what it takes, then reach out, and if I can’t get with you immediately because I’m working with others, just hang in there, I’ll get to you! Also keep in mind, I might not think that you are ready for certain things, so the first step, I need your trust and patients.

I’ve established many platforms for all Freestyle Artist to take advantage of. From our Messageboard that has been around for over ten years, to LaRadioLive (4 years), FreestyleBlogs, FreestyleBlast, FreestyleFriends and of course The Freestyle Music Awards (FMAs). Oh and how many of you wear the infamous Men’s Cologne Freestyle by La’?

These things have been put together for the sole purpose of promoting our genre, yet it becomes a waste of time without the support of our artist.

I still have so much hope for this market. It wasn’t that long ago that promoters use to laugh at it. Now look! Everywhere you look there’s another Freestyle event happening. But we have to be smart and realize that the same people who ruined it back in the day, are popping up to cash in once again.

Protect your market people, or else start looking for a regular job, because the next time it falls, it won’t get up again.

Last month I asked for your comments regarding my discussion, and the response was incredible, but also way too much for me to place on this blast, so instead I am linking this to out blog site where you can go in and post whatever it is you want. I am really interested in hearing some of the ideas out there. I know there are some incredibly smart people in this market, industry folks as well as fans and we all need to hear what you have to say.
