The excitement filled the air once I knew that I was humbly chosen to perform at this first years annual 2008 Freestyle Music Awards being held in Miami, Florida. Everything for us was perfect and organized. I didn’t feel anything was out of place. Food, timing, stagehands, greeters, and hotels I mean everything. I could clearly see the great effort in preparation taken to organize this type of event. My great appreciation and thanks to Latif who master minded this. After many years with Latif, I never knew till just recently what a talented man this individual is. Oh, of course he had in the past hired me for shows and we have met here and there. But never since I had the pleasure of enjoying his company and he sharing his insights on the future and success he has had, could I ever understand the depth of this commitment and dictation to our format Freestyle. It’s this spirit of involvement that energizes me to forage ahead and believe that with teamwork, we can achieve the impossible. Thank you Latif, for your vision and allowing my family and me to participate in the success of this beginning stage which will pave the way for many other talented recording artists to also contribute in its future success and growth. To Lilly Bolden and her wonderful dedicated husband Leonard, who put up the funds to make this dream come true God richly bless you hundred fold. Because of your belief in our format and unconditional love for our families and careers, you have allowed our dreams to become a reality in the face of rhetoric and public opinion. Despite all these obstacles you have combined forces with Latif and Ovidio Santiago to allow our dreams to become reality in Miami, Florida for those two wonderful and memorable days. I can’t say enough for what you did, but I believe in the blessings of the Lord, and be aware your blessing is at hand. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and I know I am also speaking for many today, who also express love and appreciation. Oviedo you did a wonderful job, in managing and handling all the responsibilities that befell you great job. Rachel, you are a wonderful thank you for all your help.
I will never forget the excitement of the convoy of Limos being escorted by Miami Police Department. Who lead us directly to our red carpet at the event. Being in the limos and seeing this event unfold made me feel like a little boy with new candy. Man the butterflies were working. Once the Limos got to their destination the announcer would call out the recording artists name and that created for me super excitement and I became more of a ham, I loved it.
I also want to acknowledge with love and admiration. My manager who is going on 15 years and still going, Jeanette Ortiz thank you wonderful job you did, thank you, my daughter Christina whose endurance and staying power held her together when times got boring or fun, also to my other up and coming superstar Athena (Ladii A), you proved to me and the world you have what it takes. Now just focus and go for it. It’s a dad’s dream to see his little baby rock the house, but the way she did with her first performance at the awards made me so proud of her, God has richly blessed her. Keep up the great work daddy loves you. Mim Ortiz, ex-manager to recording group “Solid,” and family member we love you, My acknowledgment and appreciation also extends to: Angel, lead singer for the cover girls, you did an exquisite performance very theatrical and moving I loved it. Latif is very blessed to have a wonderful person like you who also devoted every effort in making this dream a reality for everyone. Your tireless efforts behind the seen, will not be over looked we love you for your participation. And it was a wonderful surprise seeing Sunshine, and Caroline “Ladies and Gentlemen the Cover Girls,” Tito Puente my true brother, Little Suzy sang a beautiful Spanish song, in a beautiful gown. Mickey Garcia the legend, Ernest Thomas, who did a great job hosting this memorable event, wonderful seeing him, Delilah Cotto who also did a great job hey can you help a brother out in acting…. lol, DJ Ciro my good friend, Freestyle Evolution my boys rockin the house, K7 (TKA) who did an excellent job, very nice touch using the high school band very unique. Sweet Sensation (we missed you Betty), Company B, Coro, who lit up the stage loved that little dancer, My girl Debbie Deb wonderful seeing her again, Erotic Exotic my dear friends, Rockell and Joe Zangle super talented, Carlos Berrios producers extraordinaire, Brenda K Starr and her husband wonderful job like always and you are very bless with your husband, Pain, Vito Bruno nice seeing him there, everyone from Radio Station Exito 105.5 thanks for coming down, DJ Otto my boy, My great helper and friend Dan Ski, My good friend DJ Eskimo, David my ex-roady and still long time friend, Alex and Ramon, Legends of Freestyle, Johnny, Diane and Miguel from the Freestyle Documentary, the wonderful Orchestra who also did a phenomenal job with our music. And who can forget the wonderful Fans who without you we could have never made this happen, we love you and thank you for all your support.

It was a lot of fun, excitement and hope for our future in our joint efforts in making this market (Freestyle) we hold dear and trusted an international household name! As with Hip Hop, Country, Rock and Roll and other house hold names, Freestyle should and could be the next international sensation. Myself, Carlos Berrios, Mickey Garica and a host of elite industry executives, believe in the unity and development of our market (Freestyle). Many individuals and fans got to review and comment regarding my direction for the future for Freestyle by listening to my latest and possibly one of the greatest albums in the freestyle era. “Peace On Earth 2012,” This album has opened many doors and continues to shock and amaze industry elites in the direction, quality, singing, writing, and the originality of each song. What I have been preaching is finally reaching the masses, remember we call it Freestyle…and that is exactly right free-style. A style that is free of formatting and regulation, an artistry of the heart and soul for the world to appreciate and enjoy. Do not limit your talents and abilities there should be no end to your creativity and originality. And I can assure you that for the Johnny O camp and other forces we will continue despite the negativity and slamming of doors, we shall see these same doors open with great respect, love and welcome our careers with friendship, anticipation, and support. Unity is key, and perseverance is the tools…believe in what you are doing and never stop and people will begin to believe in your talent and vision.

Think about our future, some would say its dead, never to return. Others would comment, love the memories but it hasn’t a chance, while others would say…I could only hope, my response is very different. Not too many people know the testimony why I returned back to a dead market that was being ridiculed and laughed at as a dieing horse on its deathbed with no one in site. My return was totally divine! I was given a directive, a vision of seeing the future through my dreams and words of people who I never met before, yet knew everything that I need to know about my future and the future of freestyle. My passion for people and the love of God motivate me and fuel me with compassion and exaltation of seeing my dream come alive. While others are hopeful, doubtful, skeptical and dogmatic about freestyle…I am filled with excitement of the turning pages in my life that will end with total victory in my dream. Wow, you might convey! I’m pretty confident about my self, but that is not the case. It is has if I have been created for such a time as this, protected, guided, taught, watched over, and encouraged to prepare for this coming time of ecstasy. I feel in my heart total joy, yes the challenges are going to be great and worth every effort my strength can muster. But in the end I will feel a sense of relief and accomplishment, because I didn’t run from my directive but rather toward my goal. The future of freestyle is very positive, positive indeed, because the anvil that has been struck by many hammers has crushed every hammer that has tried to dent and scratch the anvil. How many people have tried to lift and discard the anvil but to no avail. I still stand, not by my own power because I am nothing but rather by another, who is directing me and teaching how to proceed to the goal set before me. Freestyle’s future is very promising. This door is opening wider and wider day by day, and I see a day that I’ll be traveling and producing positive music and touring the world, not just in America, but the world. So the next time someone tells you about the failures about our music, remind them about me and where I am going. Because before this century is over my directive will be complete, but until then show them…we have only begun! The future of Freestyle…great!
